Challenge

Modern steel production uses the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) method to convert recycled metals into steel. High-powered electric arcs with temperatures of up to 1,650 degrees C melt scrap metal and convert it into high-quality steel. Screw feeders and conveyors are used in the steel making process for handling various minerals or slag and dust from the air pollution control systems. Conveying equipment must be designed for difficult operating conditions.
