Diverter Valves for Green Diamond Sand Products
General Description
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act contains $1.2 trillion in funding of which $550 billion is new spending for highways and other infrastructure projects. It is the single largest investment in repairing and reconstructing our nation’s roads and bridges since the construction of the interstate highway system.
The aggregate industry, the foundation of our nation’s infrastructure, is a significant contributor to the economic wellbeing of the US, generating over $30 billion in annual sales. Green Diamond Sand Products is a leading manufacturer of foundry products, roofing granules, blast media, & specialty aggregates. Aggregate production is closely linked to commercial and residential construction as well as transportation infrastructure including roads, highways, and bridges. Since the passing of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Green Diamond’s business has increased significantly.
Aggregate material is stored in hoppers for introduction in the manufacturing process. Often, multiple hoppers need to be filled from a single source and diverter valves are used to direct bulk materials in a completely enclosed environment. KWS engineered and manufactured several dust tight diverter valves to direct material flow into Green Diamond’s hoppers.
Design Parameters
- Product Type: Aggregates

- Capacity: 1,250 Cubic Feet per Hour
- Designed Duty: 24 Hours per Day, 7 Days per Week
KWS Advantages
KWS diverter valves are custom designed for each specific application and made for simple operation. KWS provided a fully engineered package starting with design using 3D modeling. The valve was engineered, manufactured, and delivered in under three weeks.
KWS Special Features
The KWS diverter valves are fitted with custom round to square transition pieces to match existing plant equipment. Heavy steel plate was used for the diverter plate to resist abrasion along with special shaft seals to prevent dust leakage. A pneumatic actuator mounted on a heavy-duty mounting bracket is connected to a pivoting shaft to operate the diverter plate. Worn parts can easily be replaced through the bolted side door which allows for easy access.
