Hoppers, Bins and Silos
Hoppers, Bins and Silos are used to store bulk materials. Storage capacities up to 10,000 cubic feet can easily be handled. KWS designs and manufactures hoppers, bins and silos for every market including the wastewater treatment, cement, chemical, mining and aggregate industries for storing many bulk materials.
Hoppers – Hoppers are typically square or rectangular in shape with an open top for loading purposes. Loading devices such as a front-end loader are used to deposit bulk materials in a hopper.
Bins – Bins are typically square or rectangular in shape and smaller in volume than hoppers. Bins are used for holding a “surge” capacity of a bulk material. Bins provide additional capacity for a conveying system in case a conveyor in the process flow overfeeds a downstream conveyor.
Silos – Silos are typically cylindrical in shape with a closed top and conical or mass-flow discharge bottom. Silos are used to store large volumes of bulk materials at the beginning of a process or after processing is complete.
