KWS Advantages
Screw Press Discharges Dewatered Biosolids to Transition Chute
The new screw press had been preordered and was due for delivery within 8 weeks. To complete the load out system, the Town needed a screw conveyor quickly designed and delivered in order to meet schedule. KWS Environmental responded immediately, providing a concept and layout drawing along with complete mechanical & electrical design. The consulting engineer supplied civil & architectural services and coordinated the installation, saving the town money. The new KWS screw conveyor arrived on site shortly after the screw press. A qualified and trained local representative provided start up and site training.
Special Features
Using the latest 3D computer modeling techniques, KWS provided a shaftless screw conveyor with several unique features. A special hinged inlet mated directly to the screw press discharge chute could be closed to protect operators when not in use. The conveyor has custom supports that attach to wheels and a gantry crane in the room. The supports are designed so the conveyor can be pushed out of the way after shutdown, allowing clearance in the room for trucks and deliveries. The conveyor has three discharge locations with slide gates so biosolids loadout can better utilize the useable volume in the dump trailer without having to move the truck. KWS also supplied a custom-built control panel to interface with upstream equipment and only run the conveyor when it is safe to do so.
