Introduction

Since 1952, Clarke’s Sheet Metal in Eugene, OR has been providing pneumatic conveying and bulk material handling systems to the wood processing industry. Clarke’s is known for their knowledge and high-quality installations as well as service after the sale.

A custom leveling screw was needed for a truck bin for uniformly distributing bulk materials during loading operations. KWS consulted with Clarke’s to manufacture a leveling screw conveyor and associated ship-loose components to integrate seamlessly into Clarke’s truck bin system.

Leveling Screws Provide Consistent Material Distribution

Challenge

Leveling screws must be designed to provide consistent material distribution and specifically for the existing bin geometry, operating capacity, and installation requirements. CEMA standard components were not an option, requiring a fully made-to-order solution manufactured to tight tolerances.

The design incorporated heavy duty carbon steel construction and sectional screw assemblies configured for truck bin leveling service. Components were shop assembled where required and shipped loose where field assembly was preferred, giving Clarke’s flexibility during installation.
