KWS Keeps Morton Salt in Glendale, AZ Operating at Full Capacity
Introduction
Morton Salt mines an underground salt deposit near Glendale, AZ to produce salt for industrial applications such as chemical manufacturing, wastewater treatment, and many agricultural uses. The facility relies on continuous, reliable conveying of bulk salt in demanding operating conditions.
During a plant visit, a KWS technical specialist inspected a failing screw conveyor that was impacting production efficiency. The equipment was fully evaluated and components identified for replacement. Precision measurements ensured that every KWS-supplied replacement component would be completely plug-and-play with the existing conveyor structure and surrounding equipment.
New KWS Components Assembled to Restore Screw Conveyor to Better-Than-New Performance
Challenge
The aging screw conveyor showed significant wear on critical components, threatening unplanned downtime. Morton Salt needed replacement parts that fit perfectly with partially reused OEM equipment. Any dimensional deviation would require field modification, increasing downtime and installation cost. The plant required fast delivery, accurate replication of OEM geometry, and upgraded durability.
