KWS Advantages
KWS specializes in designing bulk material handling equipment for some of the most demanding industries, including mining and quarry operations. Our engineering team worked closely with Pete Lien & Sons to develop a conveying solution engineered specifically for abrasive limestone service and continuous operation.
KWS provided end-to-end support, from initial engineering and equipment selection through fabrication, delivery, and onsite assistance. Our ability to manufacture heavy-duty equipment in the United States and expedite production when required ensured the project remained on schedule. During installation KWS personnel were onsite to support alignment, inspection, and helping to ensure a smooth startup and long-term, reliable operation.
KWS Special Features
To address the abrasive nature of crushed limestone, KWS supplied heavy-duty screw conveyors featuring AR400 steel liners and screw flights. AR400 is ideally suited for quarry applications, dramatically extending service life by resisting wear from constant contact with hard, angular material. The AR400 trough liners are replaceable, allowing wear components to be renewed without compromising the structural integrity of the conveyor.
Oversized maintenance doors were incorporated into the conveyor design to provide safe, convenient access for inspection, cleanout, and component replacement. These large access doors significantly reduce maintenance time and improve overall safety for plant personnel working in confined areas.
Shaft guards were installed to protect rotating components and enhance operator safety, particularly in areas with frequent foot traffic or limited clearance. All conveyors were designed with heavy-duty construction, including reinforced troughs, and additional trough supports for continuous quarry service.
KWS provided onsite support during installation, which was crucial to a successful installation. Having experienced KWS personnel onsite ensured proper assembly while allowing potential issues to be identified and resolved quickly. This hands-on support minimized startup risk, reduced installation time, and helped ensure long-term, reliable operation in the demanding quarry environment.
