Custom Screw Conveyor Replacement Components for Nestle Purina PetCare

Introduction

Nestle Purina is a major producer of pet food with 22 manufacturing facilities and over 10,000 employees in the US. Screw conveyors are used throughout the pet food manufacturing process for conveying both raw materials and finished products. The facility in Oklahoma City, OK needed to replace several screw conveyor systems as part of a scheduled outage. Working together, Motion and KWS provided custom fabricated, screw conveyor components to be assembled on site by Nestle Purina.

Screw Conveyor Components are Painted White in Accordance with Nestle Standards

Challenge

Nestle Purina’s primary concern was receiving quality screw conveyor components that matched their standards well before the scheduled outage. The components were all Made-To-Order with white paint on exterior surfaces only, no paint on internal surfaces and screws, as well as special rectangular discharges spouts. Special length drive-end bulkhead trough ends were required based on measurements taken.

A KWS Technical Sales Specialist visited the site to understand the application and take necessary measurements of the existing equipment. The information was immediately converted to drawings for Nestle Purina’s approval. KWS manufactured the screw conveyor components to the exact requirements provided. Delivery was three weeks ahead of the scheduled outage, providing a huge relief to both Motion and Nestle Purina. KWS assisted with on-site assembly of the screw conveyor components to ensure a successful installation and a satisfied customer.
