Modern Polymer Products manufactures quality plastic resin compounds that are responsive to their customers’ needs. The plastic resin compounds are distributed throughout the United States from their manufacturing facility located in Pasadena, Texas.

Modern Polymer Products was adding capacity at the plant and needed screw conveyors that would collect and blend various plastic resin pellets and additives from gravimetric weight belt feeders and several loss-in-weight volumetric screw feeders. The blended product was then conveyed to an extruder for the compounding process to take place.

The KWS local sales representative provided Modern Polymer Products with onsite service and support prior to the order to determine the ideal layout of the equipment to best meet the requirements of the process. In doing so, the screw conveyors were designed to accommodate the collection of the various plastic resin pellets and additives. KWS has worked on similar projects for Modern Polymer Products in the past with great success.

Special Features

KWS provided heavy-duty screw conveyors constructed from 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. KWS supplied inlets of various shapes and sizes to match the discharges of the weigh belt feeders and volumetric screw feeders. The inlet connections provided a seamless, leak-free design. In order to maintain a dust-tight design and provide ease of access for cleaning, KWS used welded studs with wing-type thumb nuts to secure the conveyor covers. KWS incorporated the use of CinchPack shaft seals, an upgrade from traditional waste pack or lip seals. The CinchPack shaft seals require no maintenance and are self-adjusting to prevent product leakage.
