Introduction
US Zinc is a leading producer of zinc oxide products used in tire manufacturing, chemicals, coatings, and numerous industrial applications. US Zinc partnered with Motion in Memphis, TN to source screw conveyors on an accelerated schedule.
Challenge
US Zinc required multiple complete screw conveyors within a matter of days to meet operational demands. Conventional made-to-order screw conveyors typically require several weeks to manufacture. The customer needed a reliable solution that could be delivered immediately without sacrificing quality or performance.

Motion and KWS developed a solution utilizing all stock CEMA screw conveyor components. KWS configured complete screw conveyors using stock TUF12316 troughs, 12H412R and 12H614R helicoid screws, along with stock shafts, bearings, and accessories. Because all components were in inventory and readily available, KWS shipped the complete conveyors within three days of receiving the initial request.
In addition to meeting the aggressive delivery schedule, the use of standard CEMA components provides long-term advantages for US Zinc. Replacement parts and spare assemblies remain readily available from inventory, reducing maintenance costs and eliminating the need to stock expensive custom components at the facility to prevent unplanned downtime.
