Multiple Screw Conveyor Loadout System for Food Processor
General Description
A food processing company required an efficient method to convey a dried cake byproduct from two cake presses into a multi-bin loadout system. The existing process relied heavily on manual labor to manage material flow and distribution, resulting in inefficiencies and inconsistent bin utilization. The end user partnered with IBT Industrial Solutions and KWS to engineer a solution that would automate the process while maintaining a clean and contained operation. KWS was selected for its expertise in designing integrated bulk material handling systems that improve efficiency, reduce labor, and provide long-term equipment reliability.
IBT and KWS Provided an Automated and Efficient Load Out System for Dewatered Byproducts

KWS Advantages
KWS responded rapidly by deploying a field specialist to evaluate the application with IBT Industrial Solutions. Through a collaborative design process, KWS developed a solution focused on reducing manual handling and improving loadout efficiency. The final design incorporated a series of screw conveyors working together to provide automated and controlled distribution of material to multiple storage bins. KWS engineers ensured seamless integration with the existing cake presses while maintaining a compact footprint. This practical and efficient design approach minimized complexity while maximizing reliability, allowing the customer to improve productivity and reduce maintenance concerns.
KWS Special Features
The system begins with a single inclined screw conveyor positioned beneath the cake presses to capture and elevate the dried cake byproduct. This conveyor discharges into a reversible horizontal transfer screw conveyor, allowing operators to direct material flow to either side of the system with a simple change in rotation.
The reversible transfer screw feeds one of two downstream screw conveyors, each designed with a center inlet. These conveyors utilize both left-hand and right-hand flighting to convey material away from the center inlet in both directions. This design enables multiple discharge points along the length of each conveyor, ensuring even distribution of material into storage bins.
By evenly filling each bin, the system maximizes storage capacity and eliminates the need for manual redistribution. The fully enclosed design keeps the material contained throughout the process, improving housekeeping and reducing spillage.
All screw conveyors were constructed from 304 stainless steel to combat the corrosive effects of moisture in the byproduct. 304 stainless steel construction prevents premature trough deterioration and extends the service life of the equipment. Heavy-duty components and robust construction ensure reliable operation under continuous duty, while accessible design features simplify maintenance and inspection.
