Inclined Shaftless Screw Conveyor for Transporting Wood Fines
General Description
Desert King provides specialized extraction processes used to isolate and purify valuable compounds from plants while preserving their effectiveness, consistency, and quality. These compounds are commonly used in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and industrial applications.
To support efficient material handling within its processing operations, KWS, in collaboration with Process Engineering Systems, delivered a custom-engineered inclined shaftless screw conveyor designed to transport milled biomass material to downstream drying equipment. The shaftless screw conveyor enhanced flow reliability, and integrated seamlessly with existing production infrastructure, contributing to consistent throughput and overall process efficiency.

KWS Advantages
KWS engineering personnel worked closely with the Process Engineering Systems design team to develop a fully integrated material handling solution. Using detailed 3D renderings of the end user’s facility and advanced CAD modeling, KWS designed a shaftless screw conveyor that fit seamlessly within the existing layout, avoided interference with surrounding equipment, and ensured a smooth installation process.
KWS Special Features
KWS shaftless screw conveyors are engineered for exceptional durability and dependable long-term operation in demanding environments. To ensure excellent corrosion resistance, 304 stainless steel is used for all housing components exposed to the bulk material. UHMW polyethylene liners provide outstanding resistance to wear and abrasion.
The drive end utilizes a bulkhead-style design that positions the drive away from the trough end, reducing exposure to potential contamination. The KWS proprietary one-piece flanged drive shaft is standard for all KWS shaftless screw conveyors. Precision-machined from solid bar stock, the drive shaft is supported by a lifetime warranty.
The KWS split tubular housing provides easy access to internal components, allowing easier maintenance and quicker cleanout compared to standard solid tubular housing. A flared inlet section improves bulk material intake by providing a larger loading area, promoting uniform product distribution into the screw, and enhancing overall conveying efficiency.
