Introduction
Compass Minerals in Ogden, UT operates a large mineral extraction and processing facility on the Great Salt Lake. Various types of bulk material handling equipment are used by Compass Minerals.
KWS Slide Gate was Designed, Manufactured, and Delivered in 5 Weeks
Challenge
An existing slide gate at the Compass Minerals facility was no longer operating properly, creating production issues. The original equipment manufacturer quoted a 16-week lead time to replace the failed slide gate. Waiting four months was not acceptable. Downtime is extremely costly in the minerals processing industry.
KWS Advantage
KWS reviewed the application and existing slide gate requirements to quickly develop a solution. With 100-percent control of the engineering and manufacturing processes, KWS designed and manufactured a Made-to-Order 316-stainless steel hydraulically operated slide gate and delivered it within 5 weeks, saving Compass Minerals 11 weeks compared to the OEM lead time.
