Introduction
Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) operates a facility in Milford, VA to manufacture and package concrete, mortar, and masonry mixes with brands such as Sakrete and Amerimix.
The facility relies on bulk material handling equipment to support its operations. When replacement screw conveyor components are needed, Industrial Products, Conveyors & Drives (IPCD) in Richfield, NC and KWS are primary sources.
Challenge
Oldcastle APG needed to replace the internal components of an existing screw conveyor while retaining the existing trough and drive unit. IPCD contacted KWS with information from the existing conveyor and requested replacement components. The project required multiple screws in different lengths, along with hangers, hanger bearings, coupling shafts, flange bearings and waste pack seals. Just as important, the replacement components were needed quickly to minimize the impact on plant operations.
