Excluder Rings Stop Bulk Material Leakage

Excluder rings are used as a secondary shaft seal to prevent leakage of bulk materials at the drive or tail shafts of a screw conveyor, drag conveyor or bucket elevator. An excluder ring is installed on the inside of a conveyor to prevent bulk materials from leaking through the shaft hole in the trough end or casing. A standard seal is located on the outside of the trough end or casing. The combination of an excluder ring on the inside and a standard seal on the outside almost always guarantees a leak-proof conveyor.

Excluder rings fit very tightly over the shaft and require an interference fit. After installation, the excluder ring is pushed up against the inside of the trough end or casing. The outside edges of the excluder ring flare out and provide spring pressure to seal the hole in the trough end or casing.

Excluder rings are installed on every assembled conveyor at KWS. No other screw conveyor manufacturer provides excluder rings as a standard feature.
