General Description
Promotion In Motion (PIM) Brands is a very recognizable and leading manufacturer of fruit snacks, confections and other fine foods in North America. Founded in 1979, PIM Brands is now one of the largest 100 candy companies in the world.
PIM Brands needed a bulk bag unloading system as a backup in case a new pneumatic conveying system were to breakdown. Normally, fine sugar is stored in bulk and conveyed pneumatically to the candy making process. If for some reason the main system were to not operate, super sacks of fine sugar are metered to the beginning of the candy making process with a portable KWS bulk bag unloading system.

KWS Advantages
KWS worked directly with PIM Brands to find the optimal design for the bulk bag unloading system. For PIM, it was really important to fit the new incline screw feeder under an existing structure. Based on field measurements, the KWS engineering team was able to ensure proper fit-up before manufacturing the equipment by using 3D parametric design software.
Special Features
The bulk bag unloading system provided by KWS included an incline screw feeder with hopper and supports. The system was completely portable and could be easily pushed around on casters. Since PIM Brands is a food manufacturing facility, KWS provided the complete system manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a special polished surface finish. All of the components are designed for wash-down for proper cleaning and sanitary purposes. The inlet was designed to accommodate bulk bag size, cleanliness and employee safety. A removable, stainless steel safety screen was fitted to the inlet hopper for appropriate cleaning and safety. The complete bulk bag unloading system was mounted on a portable 304 stainless steel support structure with food-grade casters with non-marking wheels.
