As biosolids use and disposal alternatives evolve and grow in economic benefit, Storage and Loading Systems are increasingly a key process in the Sludge Treatment phase of a plant. Highly automated, enclosed Storage and Loading Systems are very efficient in terms of operations staffing and haulage equipment utilization. Direct contact between operations personnel and potentially unsafe bulk materials is reduced or eliminated. Totally enclosed Storage and Loading Systems improve plant air quality and reduce odor emissions. Process flexibility to Sludge Treatment and disposal is created with innovative control systems which positively impact capacity requirements for costly processing equipment.

KWS Environmental has developed a line of Storage and Loading solutions for any plant size and budget and can work with customers to develop an economical solution for specific operating circumstances (e.g. haulage costs, hauler equipment type and load capacity, desired load times, goals for extent of operator involvement during loading, etc).

Shafted Screw Conveyors

1 - Single Conveyor

A common application for disposal of sludge and grit/screenings is loading residuals into dumpsters or trucks for haulage to disposal. For many applications, a single inclined screw conveyor is a cost-effective and maintenance-free solution.

2 - Tandem Conveyors

The KWS Environmental Loadout System No. 2 is a simple and effective method of transferring residuals from one or more dewatering devices to a dumpster or truck. Both shafted and shaftless screw conveyors are ideal for the application.

3 - Z-Arrangement

A horizontal screw conveyor is located under one or more dewatering devices to convey residuals to an inclined or vertical screw conveyor. The Z arrangement is very versatile and allows for the use of multiple dewatering devices as well as vertical lifts up to 30-feet.

4 - Distribution Gate Arrangement

A horizontal screw conveyor is located under multiple dewatering devices to convey residuals to an inclined or vertical screw conveyor. The system creates redundancy with the use of multiple dumpster or truck loading areas. Both shafted and shaftless screw conveyors are ideal for the application.

5 - Pivoting Distribution Conveyor Arrangement

A common application for disposal of sludge and grit/screenings is loading residuals into dumpsters or trucks for haulage to disposal. For many applications, the use of a pivoting screw conveyor for loading dumpsters or trucks is advantageous when compared to other conveying technologies.

6 - Live Bottom Storage Arrangement

Larger plants produce a high volume of residuals that may require temporary storage before load out. Temporary storage allows the system to operate while awaiting trucks or dumpsters to be positioned. For many applications, the use of a storage hopper with live bottom is advantageous compared to other loadout technologies.
